DECT
is defined by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards
Institute) as the European standard for wireless communication.
It was developed to overcome the perceived shortcomings of
other business standards such as CT2.
DECT is
essentially a private on-site cellular network. However, the
interface boards are not solely used for DECT as they can
also be used for connection of the Alcatel ReflexesTM.
The IBS
(Intelligent Base Station) links the handsets with the main
system via a radio signal. Each IBS can handle up to 6 simultaneous
calls without any interference. Alternatively the Alcatel
RBS (Radio Base Station) will offer up to 11 simultaneous
calls.
The Alcatel
DECT handsets are intelligent as they decide the best channel
to use and lock onto the respective IBS/RBS automatically.
This dynamic channel allocation allows the users to “Roam”
between cells without the risk of disconnection or variation
in speech quality. This facility is often referred to as “Seamless
Handover”.
Alcatel
DECT handsets give you all the functionality of a fixed terminal
including :
- Direct
Inward Dialling
- Multi-line
Functionality
- Dial
